Special Issue on 5G Technologies and Applications -  IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine (Impact Factor: 6.038)

Submission Deadline: 1 March 2019

The fifth-generation (5G) networks continue to emerge through evolved technologies that support massive users connectivity and multigigabits downloading speeds. The 5G is a service-based network that requires efficient selection of sliced architectures considering connected end-user and requested standard slice type. The key advances over previous generations include spectrum extensions using new radio (NR) technologies, multi-interface access, orchestrated operations driven by network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN), etc.

Those technical evolutions will improve the resource availability and system scalability in response to dynamic changes in traffic. Considering a technology road-map for development, IEEE Future Networks is sponsoring this series of special issues to publish new papers on the state-of-the-art research material that covey new concepts and results in tutorial style. The selected papers will mark the millstones for 5G findings and trails in view of end-to-end system features. Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts on topics including, but not limited to:

- Physical layer developments in 5G
- Resource allocations for ultra-dense networks
- Interoperability between licensed and unlicensed bands
- Dense small cell deployments for edge device connectivity
- Time alignment for dual- and multi-transmission
- Millimetre wave band and massive MIMO
- Network slicing and topology managements
- Service type analysis: uRLLC, eMBB, mIoT
- C-RAN and network function virtualization
- 5G core network and service -based architecture
- Network hierarchy and mobile edge computing
- Software defined networking
- Distributed mobility management and network intelligence
- Network stability, control and optimization
- Integration of various services and tools
- Data centres and load provisioning
- Vertical application of 5G: smart grid, V2X, etc.
- Performance evaluation of testbeds and trials
- Internet of Things (IoT) and support for massive connectivity
- Innovative applications and services facilities by 5G

ICCCN is one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel ideas and fundamental advances in the fields of computer communications and networks. ICCCN serves to foster communication among researchers and practitioners with a common interest in improving computer communications and networking through scientific and technological innovation.

ICCCN 2019 workshops are exciting forums to present, discuss, and formulate specialized topics and emerging hot research topics (new areas, new problems or new methods). The workshops offer a perspective distinct from and complementary to the research themes of the main conference. Workshop papers should be no longer than 6 pages with up to two extra pages given the authors are willing to pay extra page charge (manuscripts should not exceed 8 pages in total in IEEE format). The detailed info can be found in the workshop Call for Papers at For any questions or additional information, please contact the Workshop General or Workshop Program Chairs.

Poster Papers:
ICCCN 2019 provides an opportunity to present in-progress work in the fields of computer communications and networks. Topics of interest are the same as the research topics in the ICCCN19 conference Call for Papers. Early implementations, prototypes, work-in-progress systems/applications as well as commercial products that are related to the topics are welcome. Presenting a poster is an effective way to obtain early and valuable feedback from a knowledgeable crowd at the conference. Posters must be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready format (double-column, 10-pt font). Each poster submission must be no longer than 2 pages including all figures/tables and references.

Important Dates:
Paper Submission Due:    March 13th, 2019
Acceptance Notification:  May 3rd, 2019
Camera-Ready Due:       May 17th, 2019
Please refer to “Author Information” posted at the conference website for more info on paper submission and related rules/policies.
